We’re in the early days of 5G with service providers immediately focused on providing an enhanced mobile broadband experience to consumers and, to a more limited extent, businesses. But, as networks scale and standards continue to evolve, eMBB will give way to massive support for the internet of things and mission-critical communications highly-dependent on 5G’s ultra-low latency.
In the U.S. today, Verizon is offering a 5G fixed wireless home broadband service and recently announced plans for a mobile service launch beginning in Chicago and Minneapolis, which will respectively use Inseego’s 5G New Radio-based home routers and mobile hot spots, all powered by MiFi iQ technology, company Chairman and CEO Dan Mondor told RCR Wireless News during Mobile World Congress Barcelona.
