The introduction of this prototype was complemented by the unveiling of a new 40,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas. Matt Loszak, Aalo Atomics’ CEO, emphasized the Aalo Pod’s advantages, blending the compact benefits of microreactors with the power capabilities of small modular reactors (SMRs) and the economic efficiencies of larger reactors. The XMR designation reflects the increased flexibility and modularity. Additionally, Aalo Atomics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Idaho Falls Power, with plans to deploy seven Aalo-1 reactors, cumulatively providing 75MW of power.

By standardizing the production process and leveraging factory-built reactors, the company aims to drive down costs. Since its founding in 2023, Aalo has already secured over $36 million in funding and has been tapped to aid in developing 1GW of nuclear capacity at the Texas A&M RELLIS Campus. Simultaneously, the US Department of Energy’s strategic distribution of high-assay, low-enriched uranium to five nuclear developers underscores the national priority placed on advanced nuclear solutions. Among these developers, Triso-X, Kairos Power, Radiant Industries, Westinghouse Electric Company, and TerraPower have all engaged in partnerships to integrate their technologies with data center firms. For instance, Kairos Power has established a 500MW supply agreement with Google, underscoring the tech giant’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
