On May 18, 2023, at the Intelligent Computing Network and Digital Economy Development Forum of the World Telecommunication and Information Day 2023 held in Hefei, Anhui, China, Dr. Tang Xiongyan, Vice President and Chief Scientist of China Unicom Research Institute, delivered a keynote speech titled “Build Top-Quality Computing Networks for Computing-Network Convergence” and shared China Unicom’s approach to improving enterprise joint computing capabilities in the 10Gbps era. At the forum, China Unicom officially released the 50G PON Campus Application Scenario White Paper 1.0. China Unicom believes that 50G PON provides ubiquitous 10Gbps access capabilities and can build a 10Gbps all-optical access base for intelligent computing network applications. 50G PON will be first applied in campus scenarios to accelerate digital transformation of various industries.
