UAE Tests Breakthrough 5G Speeds with 6 GHz and 600 MHz Bands

e& UAE has redefined 5G connectivity through innovative testing of the 6 GHz and 600 MHz spectrum bands. In collaboration with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), tests reached speeds of up to 10 Gbps using the 6 GHz band and extended 5G coverage beyond 6 kilometers with the 600 MHz band. These advancements are critical for enhancing the UAE’s digital landscape.

These tests represent a significant milestone for 5G connectivity in the UAE. The successful integration of 6 GHz and 600 MHz bands promises improved services for homes and businesses, contributing to the nation’s digital economy. According to Marwan Bin Shakar, acting CTO at e& UAE, these tests are pivotal in shaping the future of 5G, paving the way for 5G-Advanced and 6G technologies.

For consumers, the 6 GHz band offers seamless streaming of 8K content, rapid downloads, and smooth VR experiences, while the 600 MHz band ensures reliable coverage in both urban and remote areas. The integration of commercial-grade Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) in real-world deployment leverages the spectrum bands’ potential, positioning the UAE at the forefront of next-gen wireless technology.

Businesses gain from the ultra-fast broadband provided by the 6 GHz band, which supports cloud workflows, IoT applications, and AI analytics. The 600 MHz band’s broad coverage is ideal for industrial IoT and smart city applications, enhancing scalability and operational efficiency.

The TDRA’s spectrum allocation for 2024 enhances the UAE’s global standing in mobile technology. High-capacity urban connectivity offered by the 6 GHz band and extensive coverage by the 600 MHz band boost smart city initiatives and industrial automation. These improvements bolster the UAE’s position in global telecommunications, ensuring sustainable growth and fostering a smarter, more connected nation.
