By this time, many of you might have followed the exciting news of the launch of commercial friendly user trial by Rakuten Mobile Network Inc. (referred as just “Rakuten” in this blog post) – the newest and the 4th mobile network operator in Japan. Rakuten Inc., the parent company, is well known in the industry as a Web and IT giant with a diversified line of businesses such as eCommerce, FinTech, rich media content and social media apps. This makes it worthwhile to note the entry of Rakuten into the telecom space with a very different background, in stark contrast with the established Communications Service Provider industry.
