Advanced Cooling Solutions for High-Density AI Clusters

Collaboration with Nvidia for Optimal Design

With global data center power demand projected to double between 2022 and 2026, driven in large part by AI’s power-intensive GPU requirements, Schneider Electric has teamed up with Nvidia to develop a reference design optimized specifically for liquid-cooled, high-density AI clusters. This novel design, tailored for Nvidia’s GB200 NVL72 and Blackwell chips, incorporates liquid-to-liquid Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) and direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology. These features ensure sustainable and efficient operations, enabled by comprehensive mechanical and electrical plans.

The collaboration with Nvidia signifies a strategic move to address the energy-hungry demands of AI training processes and computational tasks. By integrating liquid cooling, the reference design reduces the thermal management challenges that typically accompany high-density AI clusters. This approach not only improves energy efficiency but also extends the lifespan of the servers, contributing to overall sustainability. Notably, the Galaxy VXL UPS achieves a remarkable 52% reduction in space compared to industry averages, making it a compact yet highly dense solution capable of delivering up to 1042 kW/m². This significant space efficiency allows data centers to maximize their capacity without compromising on performance or sustainability.

The modular design of the Galaxy VXL UPS ensures scalability, enabling data centers to expand their infrastructure seamlessly as AI demands grow. The compact footprint of the Galaxy VXL UPS means that valuable data center space can be optimized for other critical infrastructure components, improving overall facility efficiency.
